Keep Morrisville's identity intact
As a lifelong Morrisville resident, I'm on a mission to save the historic Stockham Building from destruction. The Stockham Building is located at 10 S. Pennsylvania Ave., on southeast corner of
Pennsylvania Avenue and Bridge Street. I believe this landmark is a vital part of our town's heritage, and deserves to be preserved, NOT demolished. I'm calling on the community to stand with me, raise awareness, and urge Borough Council officials to do the right thing. Together, we can protect a piece of Morrisville’s history before it’s lost forever.
Thomas Stockham was born in Morrisville on October 8, 1883, graduated from Drexel and was a civil engineer, architect, and the mayor of Morrisville. He was elected as a Republican to the PA House of Representatives for the 1935 term and served 6 consecutive terms thereafter. He is buried in Morrisville Cemetery.
Stockham Interests LLC of Trenton filed for Chapter 11 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey in March 2010, the day before a scheduled sheriff’s sale of the property. Ownership of the building was transferred to Ratim Group who receive passive income from the numerous cell phone towers on the roof.
In 2022, Morrisville was awarded a $1 million redevelopment grant. State Sen. Steve Santarsiero and then-State Rep. John Galloway announced that $1 million in state funds had been secured from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program for the building's redevelopment.
Architectural firm Harman, Deutsch, Ohler presented retrofit plans to the public at the Nov 19, 2024 Borough Council meeting. The presentation, linked below, begins about 6.5 minutes into the video.
The architectural firm contracted by the owner of the Stockham building provided officials with the finalized retrofit plan, and a timeline for when when work could begin.
Borough Council said the property owners must decide in June 2025 whether to fix or demolish the building after Morrisville's engineering and consulting firm Gilmore and Associates, said the building is unsafe.

To help save the Stockham Building, please inform your friends and neighbors, and tell the Borough Council and other local officials that its destruction is unacceptable. I'm not asking for donations—I'm asking for action. Your voice and involvement can make a real difference.
